In training, I work towards that ideal state where the horse and human are a team - dancing together in harmony, mind, body, and spirit. Where there is a lack of fear and force, trust, communication, and confidence can all take center stage to the benefit of both horse and rider.
I have studied natural horsemanship as well as classical Dressage and hunter/jumpers. I am available to help you at your facility as you begin to build your partnership and gain the horse you've always dreamed of.
Problem Horse Training
The following are some of the common problems I see and work with:
Biting
Kicking
Pushy while being led (bad ground manners)
Bad for the farrier
Bad for the vet (shots, etc)
Pulling back/leaning into pressure
Spooky
Bucking
Rearing
Bolting
Fearful of the trailer (loading problems)
Natural Restarting/Retraining
Very often, someone finds, adopts, or buys a horse and then discovers that a great deal of retraining needs to be done in order to get him to understand his new job. Perhaps you've adopted an ex-racehorse that you would like to now use on the trails, over jumps, or for dressage. Maybe you found a horse at an auction who needs a new start so you can do hunter paces together, or pleasure classes at a local show. Regardless of your horse's past, I can help you and your horse start on that new journey in a safe, fun, productive way.
Natural Colt Starting
Starting a horse naturally builds a firm, solid foundation for your young horse's career - whether as a simple trail horse, or equine competitor. The goal is to treasure your youngster's curiosity and play, while building the framework for communication and partnership that will see you through the years and miles under saddle. Groundwork gives a basis for understanding what is desired under saddle. Attention is paid to the horse's emotional and physical well being during this crucial moment in his development.
